Managed by Mark and Diane Maher and based just outside Aboyne, Aberdeenshire, Midstrath Equiworld Club Ltd, is well established and has plenty to offer all its’ members including lessons for all abilities, camps, pony activity days, stable management courses, horses for sale, livery and so much more!

 

In October 2012 Midstrath Equiworld expanded due to continuing growth, opening a second yard at Raemoir Home Farm, Banchory. ‘Midstrath at Raemoir’ also has lots to offer with more great facilities and beautiful surroundings! – More on that later!

 

Mark has over 35 years’ experience in the equine industry – gaining a wealth of knowledge and skill. Starting out his training at Hayfield Riding Centre in Aberdeen, before going on to work and train in various yards, including the Yorkshire Riding Centre and Balcormo Stud before establishing his own business and furthering his showjumping career.

Mark is passionate about showjumping but has competed to a high standard in all equestrian disciplines. With a highly successful showjumping career to his name, Mark produced many showjumpers to the top level and made his way into the top 50 in Great Britain!


Throughout the years Mark has ridden for many owners and sponsors which has placed him firmly in demand as a coach to showjumpers and their horses alike! He continues to produce and compete his own showjumpers while managing Midstrath Equiworld and passing on his knowledge to its members.

 

Diane also has a wealth of experience in the equine industry. She competed successfully in all disciplines and during her university years Diane represented British Universities in international competitions regularly competing all over Europe! Diane has since focused on passing on her knowledge to her two children – Rebecca and Jodie and to many, many members of Midstrath Equiworld. Teaching all levels of rider in all disciplines, she is highly regarded for teaching always putting safety first.

Dedicated and passionate team

Rebecca, 22 and Jodie, 18 have joined the family business. Rebecca has recently become a fully qualified coach – regularly teaching and running stable management courses and Jodie is an apprentice with Midstrath Equiworld, a valued member of the team how is doing very well with her course!

Rebecca followed in father Mark’s footsteps lately, working at Balcormo Stud – gaining lots of experience with youngsters, studwork and of course showjumping. She is an experienced young rider with competition experience in the ring from youngster’s first shows to competitive showjumping up to and including 1.40 Grand Prix. She finds time to further her passion for producing showjumpers between teaching at Midstrath and management of Midstrath at Raemoir. She has successful produced her own youngster’s through the levels and others. Rebecca thoroughly enjoys continuing to further her knowledge of horses and pass it on to our members.

 

Jodie at just 18 is proving to be a very talented, knowledgeable rider having produced her own youngster’s – taking on her first project at just 13. She currently works at Midstrath Equiworld, where she is completing an apprenticeship but she manages to find time to further her showjumping career, producing her own 5 year old horse to foxhunter level in a very short time, winning the class on their last outing!

 

 

Our other staff includes Megan Getliff who is also an apprentice with Midstrath Equiworld she is a keen rider, livery and an invaluable member of staff. Kathryn Christie is a part time member of staff at Midstrath who balances horses with a career in running in which she is doing very well! Both Megan and Kathryn started out as beginners at Midstrath with weekly riding lessons. They have both gained lots of skill and experience as riders and completed many stable management courses here furthering their knowledge of horses and caring for them – we are very proud of what they have achieved, they are now very important members of our team and a credit to us!
